The Folk Music Society of New York brings great people and great music together. Our aim is to create a welcoming space for everyone to sing and learn from each other.

The Folk Music Society of New York, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit membership organization, run by a volunteer board of directors. The Society was started in 1965 as a division of the Country Dance & Song Society of America, by a group of Pinewoods Camp folk music enthusiasts.
Originally “The Pinewoods Folk Music Club,” the Society was created to bring two kinds of programming – the presentation of the finest traditional music by source artists and modern performers steeped in the tradition, and community music-making open to all with an interest in the old songs and tunes. With our concerts, residential weekends, classes and workshops, and community singing events, we have upheld that mission for over 50 years.
All of our events are open to everyone, but members get discounted tickets and the opportunity to support our work. You can support the Society by becoming a member or making a general donation.
We are entirely volunteer-run, and publish a monthly list of all the New York area folk music events we can find in our newsletter. You can also explore our newsletter archives. To advertise in our newsletter, contact us.
